Trauma doesn’t just affect the mind—it leaves its mark on the body!

Going through a traumatic experience can affect every aspect of our lives—our emotions, physical well-being, and even our connection to ourselves. Many trauma survivors share feelings of disconnection from their bodies, intuition, and inner sense of safety, which can make navigating the world feel overwhelming.

When life feels out of control after trauma, regaining a sense of agency can be incredibly empowering. That’s why we’re passionate about supporting this journey toward healing and self-reconnection.

One way we do this is through Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY), a compassionate, body-based approach to healing that works alongside traditional talk therapies. While talk therapy can be powerful, it doesn’t always address the way trauma is stored in the body.

TCTSY was developed by the Justice Resource Institute’s Trauma Center in Brookline, Massachusetts and has origins in

trauma theory, attachment theory, neuroscience & hatha yoga

Through TCTSY, we help you reconnect with your body, rebuild your inner sense of safety, and reclaim your power, one step at a time.

Just like EMDR, IFS, CPT, CBT, or other interventions, TCTSY is a scientifically-validated care model provided by trained facilitators. TCTSY is unique, however, in that it employs interoception (or awareness of internal physical cues) to guide survivors toward restoring a feeling of safety in their relationship to their body and to others.

Since participating in TCTSY, I have noticed several positive changes. The practice has played a significant role in allowing me to feel calmer more often and better able to make decisions and be more independent in my daily life. The skills I’ve gained through TCTSY have also helped me respond more effectively to stress and trauma triggers, better equipping me to navigate my mental health symptoms.”

“The TCTSY program provided me with a safe space to reconnect with my body in a gentle,non-threatening way. It helped me become more aware of my physical sensations without forcing myself to feel things I wasn’t ready for.”

"The first principle of recovery is empowerment of the survivor.

They* must be the author and arbiter of their* own recovery.

Others may offer advice, support, assistance, affection, and care, but not cure.
